I always like to start from the answer choices in these tricky types of unit conversion questions.

The length of AB remains the same - it is only the units with which we measure AB that changes.

We are looking for:

(# of meters) = sqrt(# of centimeters)

M = sqrt(C)

“1 meters equals 100 cm”

(100)M = C

(E) 1 cm

100 cm ———————> 1 m

/100 ................................./100

1 cm ———————> 1/100 m

Does: 1/100 meters = sqrt(1) ?

No

(D) 10 cm

100 cm —————————> 1 m

/10............................................./10

10 cm ——————————> 1/10 m

Does: 1/10 meters = sqrt(10) ?

NO

You can continue the same analysis for C and B. Of course max lucky enough if you start with A

(A) 100 m

1 m —————-> 100 cm
*(100).................... *(100)

100 m ——————-> 100,000 cm

Does: 100 meters = sqrt(100,000) ?

YES
100 = (10)^2

100,000 = (10)^4

Square Root of (10)^4 = (10)^2 = 100

(A) is the answer
100 m
