So, total weight of the students = 37 * 42 = 1554
Let the weight of the teacher be x
Given: \(\frac{1554 + x}{38} = 44\)
\(1554 + x = 1672\)
\(x = 118\), IMO(D)!

Since the average weight was 42, let us assume that each of the 37 children weighed 42.
Now, if the teacher has increased the average by 2, that means including him, the average weight would be 44.
So, now assume each of the 38 individuals has a weight of 44 kg.
This is 44 + 2*(37) = 44+74 = 118 kg more than the original weight
This is the weight of the teacher!
