What is the least possible common multiple of two distinct integers greater than 120?

A. Product of 121 and 122
B. 500
C. 250
D. 242
E. 121

Let x be the smaller of the two distinct integers greater than 120. Since the LCM must be greater than x and must be a multiple of x, the smallest possible value of the LCM is 2x, in which case the greater of the two distinct integers is equal to 2x.

Since the smallest possible value of x is 121, the smallest possible value of the LCM is 2(121) = 242.

What is the least possible common multiple of two distinct integers greater than 120?

A. Product of 121 and 122
B. 500
C. 250
D. 242
E. 121
Strategy:
1) Start with smallest number as first integer because the LCM is to be kept lowest hence first integer = 121
2) Second number should be chosen such that there is most part common between first and second and since they should be distinct so the the uncommon part should be least.

Least uncommon part = 2 Highest common part = 121
so second iteger = 121*2 = 242

LC< (121, 242) = 242

Answer: Option D
