A sales role offers a salary in two parts. A fixed component and a variable component as a percentage of sales. Xavier received $4,320 as the salary when he made a sale of $12,800 in January. In February he made a sale of $16,200 and received $4,830 as a salary. If in March, he had received $5,040 as the salary, how much sale did he make?

A sales role offers a salary in two parts. A fixed component and a variable component as a percentage of sales. Xavier received $4,320 as the salary when he made a sale of $12,800 in January. In February he made a sale of $16,200 and received $4,830 as a salary. If in March, he had received $5,040 as the salary, how much sale did he make?
Solution
let Fixed charge be=$x
Then variable charge be=y% of the sales
Condition 1st=X+Y/100*(12800)=4320
Condition 2nd=X+Y/100*(16200)=4830
Solving this we get value of Y=128y-162y=4320-4830
34Y=510
Y=15
So X would be=4320-1920=2400
5040-2400=2640
and 2640/15%=17600
so the sales would be 17600
Solution
