Is the positive number x an integer?
(1) 3x is a perfect square. If \(x=\frac{1}{3}\), then 3x = 1 = 1^2 and in this case x is not an integer but if x = 3, then 3x = 9 = 3^2 and in this case x is an integer. Not sufficient.
(2) 2x is divisible by 4 --> 2x = 4k --> x = 2k = even = integer. Sufficient.
Answer: B.

in the secnd statement we have 2x is divisible by 4.Cant we have x=1.6 then also 2x is divisible by 4.In that case x is not an integer,,
