stem: \(\frac{a}{b}\)=\(\frac{c}{d}\).....(1)
\(\frac{a}{b}\)=? or \(\frac{c}{d}\)=?

stat-1: \(\frac{2a}{c}\)-\(\frac{b}{d}\)=\(\frac{b}{d}\)
or \(\frac{2a}{c}\)=\(\frac{2b}{2d}\)
or \(\frac{a}{b}\)=\(\frac{c}{d}\), same equation as given one at stem, .....insufficient.

stat-2: 25 c^2=8d^2
or \(\frac{c}{d}\)=sqrt\(\frac{8}{25}\)
in DS only positive root is accepted,......sufficient

ANS : B

Your statement "in DS only positive root is accepted" is wrong.

Please note that here we are considering only positive integers just because a,b ,c and d are positive integers. If it were given an integer, then the answer would have been E.

If a, b, c, and d are positive numbers, and \(\frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d}\), what is the value of a/b?

(1) \(\frac{2a}{c} - \frac{b}{d} = \frac{b}{d}\)

(2) \(25c^2 = 8d^2\)

(1) \(\frac{2a}{c} - \frac{b}{d} = \frac{b}{d}\)
\(\frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d}\)

Not sufficient

(2) \(25c^2 = 8d^2\)
c^2/d^2= 8/25

Since c and d are +ve, we can get the values.

Sufficent.

B is the answer
