Statement 1: 10.50 $ for first two hours
Not Sufficient

Statement 2: 9$ for last 3 hours
16.50-9 = 7.50$, which can be divided into two hours (3$ and 4.5$)
as rent for first hour is more than the additional hours.
Sufficient

Option one from Statement 2: as it is calculated that for additional hours rate is $3/hr. and from your solution we are left with $7.50.
Possibility 1) first hour price is $7.50 and rest 3 hrs total $9 = $16.50 for 4 hrs
Possibility 2) first hour price is $4.5 and rest 4 hrs = $12 = $16.50 for 5 hrs.
B alone not sufficient..

Total Rental = First hour + (New Hourly Rent X No. of hours in excess of first hour) = x + yt

Question: Time of rental = t+1?

Statement 1: Cerenity and Jas paid $10.50 for the first 2 hours.
x+y = 10.5
but since y is unknown hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: Cerenity and Jas paid $9.00 for the last 3 hours.
It is possible that it was rented for 3 hours which will mean x+2y = 9 but
there is possible case that it was rented for more than 3 hours, which will mean 3y = 9 hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining the statements

Since the first hour rental is greater than each additionali.e. x > y
so we can deduce that $9 for last 3 hours does NOT include the first hour because as per first statement the rental for first two hours was $10.5
hence
x+y = 10.5 and
3y = 9
i.e. y = 3 and x = 7.5
and time of rental = 4 hours because x+3y = 16.5
SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option C

Bunuel
Cerenity and Jas rented a jet ski for an afternoon. The rental fee for the first hour is more than for each additional hour. If Cerenity and Jas paid $16.50 when they returned the jet ski, for how many hours did they rent the jet ski?

(1) Cerenity and Jas paid $10.50 for the first 2 hours.
(2) Cerenity and Jas paid $9.00 for the last 3 hours.
