find if pass ≥ 3max/10

(1) The maximum volume of water that can pass through the floodgates is three times the volume which is normally allowed to flow through: sufic.
max = 3pass… p = x/3… x/3 ≥ 3x/10… 10x ≥ 9x, true.

(2) The area through which water is allowed to pass is normally less than one third of maximum: insufic.
pass < max/3: 0% max ≤ pass < 33.3% max, could be anything.

Is Volume(normal) > 30% of maximum volume?

(1) The maximum volume of water that can pass through the floodgates is three times the volume which is normally allowed to flow through.

The maximum volume can be 0 < V max. < 100 in percentage terms.
So normal volume can be 0 < V norm. < 33 1/3 in percentage terms

INSUFFICIENT.

(2) The area through which water is allowed to pass is normally less than one third of maximum.

V norm. < 33 1/3 of maximum volume.
Hence it can be 0 < V norm. < 33 1/3 of maximum volume same as option A.

INSUFFICIENT.

Together 1 and 2 no new information is given.

Sufficient as answer is Yes >30% of V
(2) The area through which water is allowed to pass is normally less than one third of maximum.
so v could be anything less than 33.33% of V. It could be 31%, then yes, but it could be 10% to, then no
