Here's how I went about it -

1. The mean is 10 that means 10 is the middle number between two numbers - so you could take (9,11) or (8,12) as a case. You can see that standard deviation is calculated by checking the deviations from the mean and squaring them. Therefore, in (9,11), the deviation from 10 is -1 and +1 while in (8,12), the deviation is -2 and +2. Hence, you will get different answers. A is not sufficient. Eliminate A and D.

2. Range is greatest number in the set minus the smallest number in the set. B says that the range is ten. So you could take any example - (10,20); (2,12) etc. The mean will be the middle number. So in (10,20), the mean will be 15. The deviation is -5 and +5. You will see that this will hold true for any value. In (2,12), mean is 7 and deviation is -5 and +5. Therefore, you will get only one answer. B is sufficient.

The question says that the set has 2 numbers, not only 2. Why can't there be more numbers in the set?

can someone answer Rye's question, I also felt the same.
There are two values in the set, not necessarily only 2 numbers.

Set V consists of 2 distinct positive values.

so [2,2,2,12] , 2 is repetitive ..
