Manhattan books are useful at the beginners stage. However, you would need to develop a critical mindset to get a great score and for that books would fall short.

GMAT Sentence Correction (Manhattan Prep GMAT Strategy Guides) Paperback – 1 February 2015.

Is this the latest version bro?

I agree with MohitGeat that all the verbal manhattan prep strategy book is the best resource for SC. I also recommend the official guide companion for SC, a manhattan resource.

Hi DreamerHBS,

The grammar rules that you need to know for GMAT SCs are all from a standard sub-set of English grammar rules (and while there are a lot of different Idioms that could show up on Test Day, even that list is finite). This is meant to say that you could learn those rules from a variety of different sources - and that there is no real 'substitute' for that knowledge.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Could someone please suggest me a good book for Sentence correction.
PS: Beginner
Hi DreamerHBS! Since you ask for recommendation on Sentence correction, thought I would mention that our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.

After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!

The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.

You can als go thru this post on how Soubhik, who scored V51 (overall score 780), vouches for our book.

If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.
