I have a general question and hoping someone who has been through the application experience can help me.

Most schools have an admit weekend in the last week of April - are these weekends typically for students that have decided to enroll? Seeing as its only a couple days before the deposit deadline, I would imagine yes, but at the same time what if there are multiple schools you want to visit before making the decision that have admit weekends on the same dates? Should you try to visit BEFORE the admit weekend, and if so, does it really give you the best experience given you're not going to be meeting other students, partaking in social events, etc? Obviously I would email the schools and see what events they have going on that I could try to attend but just wondering if anyone has any general advice if they have been in the position of visiting and choosing between 2 or more schools, and how you recommend cramming it all in the one month they give you to make that decision.

Admit weekend is for all admits. I would attend if possible. The schools will pull out all the stops. At Booth we had a string of awesome events with night life mixed in, met a TON of current students and had housing tours. They'll be a great benefit in narrowing down a choice last minute or even helping you plan next steps if you've already decided.

What if you're deciding between two schools that have admit weekends at the same time? I mean, I guess there's not much you can do about that, but it doesn't seem fair to compare a visit to one school during a non-event weekend where there's not much going on, versus going to another school during an admit weekend. Is this just a go-with-your-gut type situation?

Kellogg/Booth admits were in that boat in round 1. At that point you will have had a good deal of interaction with each school and understand the pros and cons of the programs, recruiting, clubs, etc. So I think most people go to the school they feel more drawn to in order to see if they fit in with the student body. So maybe pick the school where you want to see student culture more than other factors. Or maybe if you get a big scholarship at a program you MIGHT want to attend theirs to see if you walk away convicted.

You'll also meet a ton of incoming students. If you get into a flexible curriculum you may want to attend their admit weekend so you can start forming relationships. Everyone in my city who attended Booth's admit weekend is now in a facebook group and organizing meetups.

Do you have anything else to go on? Have you visited the schools before, prior to the admit weekend? If so, maybe go to the admit weekend of the one that left the weaker impression among the two. The school is going to be trying harder to woo you over admit weekend, so try to remain subjective if you can only go to one. On the other hand, maybe split the weekend if it's feasible financially and time wise. If you still can't decide, maybe go against your gut and attend the event of the school you're not already totally in love with. If after that weekend, they still can't win your heart over, you have an easy decision.

Which MBA are you trying to go?
This is a general question - just trying to get a feel for those who have had to make these decisions and what has been helpful for them.

Thank you to all who have responded!
