Hi
I have got an admit to IMD MBA 1 year program . I also want to apply for Kellog 1 year program .
My post MBA goals are :
General management or short stint in MBB and then shift back to industry
My long term career aims are to rise in industry and take a global leadership role (CEO if I have to define it ). Also my aim to do MBA is more long term and the only short term goals ,I am really interested is global mobility ,leadership training and a possible career fast tracking
Current Profile
General Management
Also I am already 33 and a bit old for most traditional programs and hence felt IMD /INSEAD /Kellogs 1 year are the only good fit . My USD equivalent salary is already close to USD 150 k ++ and thus I may not get fantastic financial returns in short term
Hi
1Maverick1234First of all you are not old for anything, forget that.
Congrats on being admitted to IMD.
Great school, maybe best business school in Switzerland and one of top in Europe.
But, if you get admission to Kellogg, go to Kellogg.
As per Economist,
Kellogg is number 1 in the world in their rankings :
https://www.economist.com/whichmba/full ... ba-rankingINSEAD is placed on 21. and IMD on 29. place.
You can find more detailed relevant info here, about all three mentioned schools :
https://www.economist.com/whichmba/nort ... ement/2017https://www.economist.com/whichmba/insead/2017https://www.economist.com/whichmba/imd- ... pment/2017As per opinion of applicants here on GMAT Club Kellogg comes second after Harvard, INSEAD comes on 8 place.
Financial Times (traditionally biased toward European/Asian schools, on the expense of American ) has slightly different opinion in Global MBA Rankings for 2018, INSEAD comes second, Kellogg comes on 12. place and IMD is on 24. place.
https://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolra ... nking-2018You mention your current salary, so IMD graduates have Weighted salary (US$)156,908 and Salary percentage increase
of 79 %.
https://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolra ... nking-2018INSEAD is better in those terms, Weighted salary (US$) 177,157 and Salary percentage increase of 105%, which means double.
https://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolra ... nking-2018Finally, Kellogg is near INSEAD with Weighted salary (US$) 168,608 and Salary percentage increase of 103%.
Just 10k difference
https://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolra ... nking-2018US News places Kellogg on 6. place in US only rankings, for 2019 :
https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-sc ... a-rankingsBloomberg places Kellogg on 8. place for 2017. Best Biz schools rankings:
https://www.bloombergmedia.com/press/bl ... s-schools/Finally, Forbes places Kellogg on 4. place in 2017 rankings:
https://www.forbes.com/business-schools/list/Kellogg has 5-Year MBA Gain of $84.8 K, Years to Payback ratio of 3.9, and post MBA salary of $195 K, according to Forbes.
Pretty solid figures.
So, the answer is that you should go to Kellogg, which is the best school overall, according to various rankings, and especially if you want to say to work in US, due to brand recognition and preference toward US schools in US market.
Having said that, you cannot go wrong with INSEAD or IMD, those all are great top schools and that would be especially wise if you want to relocate in EU (or Asia) to work later, although Kellogg will serve for that purpose just fine also.
If you want to gain different life and cultural experience then certainly INSEAD and IMD come into play.
Hope this extensive research and figures presented will help you to decide.
Below, you will find attached comparison of all three schools, by Economist application.
Good luck and inform us on your final decision !
