Hi all -- I need help with this decision! I was admitted to Wharton/Lauder (originally my #1) program but didn't get as much money as I hoped (around 27k over years).
I got more aid at Columbia (60k over two years). The Wharton degree is more expensive since I'm doing the dual degree, but living in NYC is more expensive. Overall, it'll be 60k more to do Wharton. Worth it?
For context on post-MBA career goals, I'm aiming to go into corp strat/corp innovation.

I feel Wharton and CBS are pretty similar. CBS does not have an iconic status of Wharton but I feel it is a very strong little brother for Wharton. However, I feel that 69% employed at graduation is a bit low number for a school in the top 10 (Wharton is at 82% and Ross is at 90%). I feel the 69% speaks about the level, quality, and competitiveness of the on-campus recruiting opportunities (though it does talk about the student talent as well). Wharton would be a bump in terms of overall experience, exposure to opportunities, professors, and classmates.
I guess the question is - is Wharton worth a 25% Tuition Premium? Is that how the money works out?
In this situation, I would say definitely not 75% but at least 10% so that you can be part of the coveted HSW crowd if nothing else.
Are you thinking of staying in NYC? If so, perhaps not as much reason to pick up and move (though HSW does not have a "C" in it). I can see someone arguing that since you are not looking at hyper-competitive industries and you can recruit well from CBS. At the same time, if one was trying to convince to go to Wharton, one could say, you are already spending $200K+ and let's put opportunity cost on top of that so $300K. That makes $60K about 20%. Is that a worthwhile upgrade?
I feel with the lack of assurance and brand dominance from Columbia you will have to do the legwork for recruiting more so than at Wharton plus combine that with dual degree value, greater caliber of students and professors - starts to make Wharton look more enticing.

Wharton hands down. The difference in $$ between the two schools(accounting for cost of tuition, cost of living, and the merit-based scholarship money you received) is not nearly enough to turn down Wharton, especially given your career goals.
I also think it's worth making a second point here, and it's that even though you say you want to do Corp Strat / Corp Innovation, that could very easily change when you get to business school and you realize the world is your oyster. At Wharton, you have vastly more flexibility to try new things and either reject/validate your career hypothesis. At Columbia, I fear you would be stuck with just a finance-focused route.
I'd say about 1/3 of my graduating class from Haas ended up pursuing a different role and function than what they thought they wanted when they first stepped foot on campus. It's one of the nice things about schools with a strong brand - you can truly test the waters across a multitude of industries and roles both during school and during your internship.
