Tepper ($) vs Marshall ($$) - which bschool for tech

Question

Hey people,

I have an admit from Tepper with some scholarship and from Marshall with almost 50% scholarship. However, Tepper by rank is needless to say, ahead of Marshall. I'm thinking about Marshall because my future has to be tech and as they say, choose a place and not a school. By that measure, I should give preference to west coast.

I'll be mailing Tepper if they can push a bit in terms of scholarship but I'm not sure if Tepper does that. Finances are a good concern for me since I'll be completely reliant on a loan. But I also don't want to take a decision by compromising my future. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Actually both Marshall and Tepper are tied at 17 in ranking this year.

Congratulations on your admits!

I think you need to be a bit more specific about the scholarship amounts to get exact. Marshall has been going up quickly quickly in the last few years. They have gone up from high 20's to high Teen's - that's hard to do! They are doing something right but programs that are going up fast also tend to go down fast, so a program ranked as #17 for 5 years is diff from a program ranked #17 for one. Hard to tell without exact financial however.

Keep in mind, by the way, that LA is likely to be more expensive than Pittsburgh to live but you will save a lot on winter clothing

By the way, by the general rules of posting - $$$ means FULL Scholarship, $$ means 50% and $ means something between zero and 50%

Thank you! With Marshall, it is $60K while with Tepper it is $20K. The quick ramp-up is a really great point. With Marshall making news recently and the dean going, I'll be wrong to say I'm not worried. Does the winter clothing save match the LA expense! :D Thank you for mentioning the rules. My bad, I didn't check. I couldn't edit the poll now. I'll keep it in mind.

I think it comes down to location. Do you want to be on east coast or west coast?
