Hi guys,
I'm looking for some input to determine which B-school. I got admitted from Darden and Ross, but Darden gave me a 1yr scholarship. Post MBA, I'm looking to work in the US (coming from Asia) as PM for a bigger tech firm. To give a little bit of my personal background, I have an international background of living abroad for 14 years.
My concern is about the school's international presence and recruiting in tech (the scholarship is also very attractive). I like the culture of both schools, so I'm having a hard time to decide. Both are very good schools, and they both now have STEM programs, which is a plus as an international.
Darden-
visited, liked the people I met
beautiful campus
case study method (very engaging)
scholarship ($70K)
Ross-
no visit (can't now bc of covid), but liked the people I met in my city
bigger alumni presence outside the US (?)
stronger recruiting in tech (?)
What are you guys' thoughts? I'll be talking to some of the alumni and current students here but I have a feeling both sides will recommend their own schools. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think.
(P.S. my first choice is Kellogg but seem unlikely)

Okay I am shocked that this has not been responded to. Full disclosure - I am an international student just finishing my MBA at Ross and going into product management. I spent my summer at Apple as a PM intern and going to Amazon as an AWS PM for full time. Ross has some excellent tech opportunities. Most of the class that recruits for tech go to Amazon, Microsoft and other tech giants like Google and smaller tech companies like Zillow, Adobe etc.
However, for you Darden makes more sense. They are somewhat peer schools and the $70K scholarship makes it a no brainer. Darden is an excellent school and they are truly similar and you will have no problem getting into tech from either. So take the $70K and run.

It is hard to make an argument for Ross. The schools are roughly equivalent in terms of reputation, and both have roughly 20% go into tech, with a base salary starting out ~$125k. The only logical reason to choose Ross over Darden would be if you really want to work in the midwest/Chicago, rather than tech. Think about it, an additional $70k in debt paid back over 10 years will be ~$750/month depending on your interest rate.
