Hey Guys!
In a real spot here and really unsure on how to proceed. The pandemic isn't doing anyone any favours. Would really appreciate any insights, perspectives and advice.
I'm currently deliberating between two business schools and have
a really tight timeline to make a decision.
I currently have admits from:
1. ISB
2. Foster School of Business (~70K scholarship)
Thanks to the scholarship the effective cost is roughly the same for both the business schools.
I'm an Indian applicant (probably a given since I applied to ISB), but figured I'd put it out there to give context to the rest of my background.
Post the MBA, I want to pivot into a Product Management/Product Marketing Management role.
My current profile:
5 years of total experience in June 21
GMAT - 720
Breakdown of experience:
1.5 years in
Digital Marketing at a Start Up as a Marketing and Accounts Manager. Also involved in business development for the company and in product development for e-learning courses for the start-up's EdTech division.
3.5 years at Infosys, but with
no real tech experience. At Infosys, I was involved more in platform based IT support /IT administration (so things like working on setting up virtual environments on VMware and Azure, shell scripting, etc).
No software development/coding experience in a professional setting whatsoever. Although here, I was leading multiple teams to drive projects to completion (so more general management?). During both stints, I have primarily worked with international clients (US, Mexico, Japan, Singapore).
I am open to working in both geographies, but concerned that the nature of my experience (non-tech) will limit my opportunities at PM/PMM roles. The cost of either program is not influencing my decision in any manner.
Q1. Considering both my background and covid-19,
which program do you think would be better to help move into a PM/PMM role in a tech company?
Q2. Which of the two would offer more opportunities in this respect?
Any advice would really be appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
