@ WA@mbp7790 Dont worry. People resign, retire, switch companies, or even become self-employed while applicants are in the middle of the admissions cycle. Still, better to first email the admissions team to ask whether they are comfortable with your recommender using a personal email address given the circumstances. Yes, you may also briefly explain the same in the optional essay and include their LinkedIn profile to make it easier for the admissions team to verify their identity.

Hey all, I'm applying for Round 1 right now and ran into a quick logistical issue with INSEAD.
One of my recommenders just tendered their resignation and is worried they’ll lose access to their corporate email before the process is complete. The portal explicitly asks for professional emails.

I know INSEAD has an optional essay where I could briefly explain why I used their personal email, but I wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this before? Is dropping a quick note in the optional essay enough (and including their linkedin), Appreciate any advice!

@WA@mbp7790 - We've had mentees use personal ID's of recommenders (due to valid reasons), and it hasn't been an issue.

I'd suggest dropping an email to the AdCom to notify them about this and seek their confirmation. Also add in a line or two in the Optional Essay (including their LinkedIn).

Needless to say, what the recommender says in the LoR (i.e. depth and impact of anecdotes) will be important in assessing the strength of the letter itself.

Hi I am planning to apply for the MiM 2027 september intake. I wanna get insights about the essays. How should I start writing? Should I use AI? and how can I get proffesional support.

Hi, start by making a list of the things you've done so far and achievements, then structure them in a way that makes a good cohesive story. Maybe use Ai to help structure it initially, but don't submit an Ai version as business schools can see Ai content from a mile away. Keep adding nuances and your human touches to the essay. A summary of your achievements and accomplishments should be a good place to start from.

Good time to be thinking about this. A September 2027 intake means you have real runway, and the applicants who use these early months well tend to write from a much calmer place than the ones who start a few weeks before the deadline.

A few things worth knowing before you write a single line.

MiM essays get read differently from MBA essays. Your pool is young, most applicants have thin work experience, and on paper a lot of profiles look alike: good grades, a couple of internships, some club leadership. The adcom cannot separate people on track record, so our sense is that the essays carry far more of the weight than applicants expect. They are reading for how you think, how well you understand yourself, and whether your reasons for this degree actually hold together, not for a list of things you have done.

So on where to start: not with the school's website, and not with the prompt. Start with your own raw material. Spend the first few sessions just collecting specific moments, the internship where something genuinely shifted for you, the project that went wrong and what you changed afterward, the decision you are still not sure about. Get fifteen or twenty of those down before you think about structure or which one belongs in which essay. Most applicants do the reverse, they read the school's mission and write something that mirrors it back, and the result reads like it could have come from any of a thousand people.

On AI and using it: treat it as an editor, not a writer. It is genuinely useful for pressure-testing whether your logic holds, for tightening a paragraph that has gone baggy, for catching where you have stayed vague. It is a poor idea to let it produce the essay itself. Adcoms read thousands of these and have become quick at spotting the flat, generic texture AI gives to "why this program" content, and the one quality that makes a MiM essay work, a real voice with some texture to it, is the first thing AI smooths away. Write it yourself, then let the tool help you sharpen your own words.

On professional support: the value is not someone writing the essays for you, and be wary of anyone offering that. What helps is the questioning that pulls out material you would otherwise leave on the table, and an experienced outside read on whether your positioning is genuinely distinct in your pool or only feels that way from the inside. Starting this early, you have the one thing most applicants run out of, time to act on that feedback instead of scrambling against it. We have written more on the way we approach MiM essays here.

Hope this is helpful. Reply here or contact us directly.
