Hello Mike,
I am a re-taker and really need to improve upon my verbal portion in particular the SC. I have both e-gmat and
Magoosh subscription but still think that I need to brush up on my fundamentals of Grammar for SC. Can you please provide your valuable insights that which book I should use to brush up my fundamentals !!
Have zeroed on GMATCLUB Ultimate Grammar book, Aristotle SC Grail or Fundamentals of verbal by Manhattan.
Cheers,
Vikas
P.S. - SC let me down in previous attempts don't want the same this time.
Dear
vik09,
I'm happy to respond.
First of all, more important than any grammar book: read this blog article:
https://magoosh.com/gmat/2014/how-to-imp ... bal-score/I want you reading an hour a day every single day---that's an hour over and above any GMAT-related prep you do. Grammar is NOT mathematics: you can't just learn a list of rules and master it from the rules. You MUST understand it in context, and the only way you develop an "ear" for grammar is by cultivating a diligent ongoing habit of reading.
This habit of reading is by far the most important, but references are also good. I certainly would recommend the
Magoosh SC Lesson Videos, and I would also stress to watch the Video Explanation following each and every SC question, regardless of whether you go the question right or wrong. You should watch 100% of the SC VEs in the
Magoosh product. As for a print book, I highly recommend that
MGMAT volume on the SC.
Does all this make sense?
Mike
