if we subtract 2 cases ; 3a+b+c+d+e - (a+b+c+d+e) ; 2a = 12

Let the 5 numbers be a,b,c,d,e
sum(a,b,c,d,e) = 5*7 = 35 = a + b + c + d + e ......(i)
Question states that one of the numbers is multiplied by 3, the average is 9.4
let a be the number multiplied by 3
so we have, sum(3a, b, c, d, e) = 5*9.4 = 47 = 3a + b + c + d + e ....(ii)
(ii) - (i)
2a = 12
a = 6
Thus, D
