The answer should be C.

"Bold" and "deliberately harsh" are descriptors of the noun opponents, and "bold" and "harsh" maintain the parallel structure. Furthermore, "Bold and deliberately harsh opponents of the ruling party have called for the resignation of the new minister" effectively modifies "a resignation that seems..."

"Deliberately (adjective) + harsh (adjective) + opponents (noun). Here adjective "deliberate" cannot modify adjective "harsh" as an adjective can not modify another

adjective. Adverbs can modify adjectives. Adjectives can only modify "nouns or pronouns". Even if we think that "Deliberate" is modifying "opponents", the meaning is

nonsensical (deliberate opponents).

There are cases when we can line up Adj. + Adj. + Noun i.e.

1. Bold and beautiful lady is walking.

2. Smart and honest men.

For these reasons, A and B are gone.

C. Correct.

D and E "Boldly" (adverb) is modifying the noun (opponents)and this is incorrect usage.

Adverbs can modify anything but noun or pronoun.

D and E out.

why isn't "are calling" the correct verb form? shouldn't this be the correct verb form so that the tense is praallel with the tense of "growing outcry"? thanks!
