Profile Evaulation : GMAT 720 , GPA 3.2

Question

Hi,

Please comment on my chances at Wharton & Kellog full time MBAs

My profile (brief) :

Total work Experience : 6 years ( 3 public sector + 3 startup in India - funded by VCs)

1. MBA from a TOP IIM in India

2. I have 60 months of varied experience both in a startup and in a public sector organization in Operations, Business Development, and Project Management.

3. I have good extracurricular achievements and led many committees throughout my academic career

4. GPA : 3.2

Willing to take GMAT again in a month.

Should I apply for Kellog one year MBA instead of two years MBA?

Your profile looks good. But I think the main challenge is to convince why 2nd MBA.

I'm going to be less optimistic than these other two. You already have an MBA, and this is a big deal. Getting a second MBA is very rare in the US. Why do you need another one?

3.2 and 720 are both below average for either school, let alone for internationals. Work experience may be good, but may not be. You haven't told us anything relevant.

I think there are more negatives here than positives based on your initial post, and it will be an uphill struggle. I'm not saying it's impossible, but you better have a very good reason, very clear path, and execute perfectly

You have an interesting profile, although we are missing details here about what exactly you do and what your achievements are.
Your GMAT and GPA combination is low for these programs, so retaking GMAT is the need for the day

Regarding 1 year versus 2 years, it depends on your goals. Do you need an internship during the MBA? Also the pace of the program will differ vastly as will the cost. A teo year MBA will give you more time to explore opportunities, as compared to a one year MBA.

Most important, you should make a convincing argument on why you need a second MBA and why at this stage in your career
