A music-streaming service analyzed the percentage of subscribers in each subscription-length group who used each of five features during the previous month. The positive difference between the percentage who used recommendations and the percentage who created playlists is greatest among subscribers in the group.
Official Solution:
The graph shows the percentage of subscribers in each subscription-length group who used each feature. Since subscribers could use more than one feature, the individual feature percentages can overlap. However, subscribers classified as “used none of these features” did not use any of the other five features.
Drop-down 1
In the 7–12 months group, 20% of subscribers used none of the listed features. Therefore,
100% - 20% = 80%
used at least one of them.
The question says that approximately 40% of these subscribers used the feature in the correct dropdown. Since
40% of 80% = 32%,
we need the feature used by approximately 32% of all subscribers in this group.
From the graph, 32% used download music.
Thus, the correct selection is download music.
Drop-down 2
Here, the positive difference means the percentage who used recommendations minus the percentage who created playlists.
For subscribers of less than 1 month, the percentages are approximately 52% for recommendations and 24% for creating playlists, a difference of about 28 percentage points.
As subscription length increases, these two percentages move closer together. The corresponding positive differences in the next groups are smaller, and by the 25+ months group the percentage who created playlists is actually higher.
Therefore, the greatest positive difference occurs in the Under 1 month group.
