If there are only red, blue, and green marbles in a jar, what is the ratio of red to blue marbles?
(1) The ratio of red to green marbles is 2:3.
(2) The ratio of green to blue marbles is 6:5.
(1) The ratio of red to green marbles is 2:3.
(2) The ratio of green to blue marbles is 6:5.

Let R = # of red marbles
Let B = # of blue marbles
Let G = # of green marbles
Target question: What is the ratio of R : B?
Statement 1: R : G = 2 : 3
No information about the number of BLUE marbles.
Statement 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: G : B = 6 : 5
No information about the number of RED marbles.
Statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT
Statements 1 and 2 combined
Statement 1: R : G = 2 : 3
Statement 2: G : B = 6 : 5
Since both ratios have G in common, we can COMBINE them once we rewrite the ratios so that the value of G is the same in both ratios.
Take 2 : 3 and multiply both values by 2 to get: 4 : 6
We can now COMBINE the two ratios to get: 4 : 6 : 5
From this we can conclude that R : B = 4 : 5
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, the combined statements are SUFFICIENT
