X and Y are non zero integers. What is the value of |X+Y|/2?

(1) X*Y = -2

(2) 1/X + 1/Y = 1/2

(1) X*Y = -2

Insufficient

(2) 1/X + 1/Y = 1/2

(Y+X)/YX=1/2
Not Sufficient

Combinig

(Y+X)/(-2)=1/2
Y+X=-1
Thereby |X+Y|/2 =1/2

Statement 1:
X*Y = -2, since we are told X and Y are integers, possible combinations are (X = -1, Y = 2), (Y = -1, X = 2) , (X = -2, Y = 1) , (Y = -2, X = 1)
In either case, |X + Y|/2 = 1/2.

Statement 2:
Not sufficient since there can be multiple values of X and Y. E.g. => X = Y = 4, X = 6, Y = 3, etc.

The answer is A.

(1) x*y=-2
This means x and y are of opposite sign, and since 2 can be written as only 1*2, x and y can be combination of (-1,2) or (1,-2). 
In each case, the answer will be  \frac{1}{2} .
Sufficient

(2)  \frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{y}=\frac{1}{2} 
There can be many values fitting in. 
 \frac{1}{1}+\frac{1}{-2}=\frac{1}{2} 
 \frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{4}=\frac{1}{2} 
 \frac{1}{6}+\frac{1}{3}=\frac{1}{2} 
Insufficient
