X is the sum of 3 consecutive multiples of 999. Imagine the numbers as a,b and c. where a,b,c are multiples of 9999.
1) The smallest number out of 3 is even. that means if a is even then b has to be odd and c is even since 3 are consecutive integers. Sum of 3 would be odd. Sufficient.
2) X is positive, we cannot infer whether x is even or odd. Not Sufficient.

If the smallest number is even, the situation will be sth: even + odd + even. Example - 2*999, 3*999, 4*999
So, the sum will always odd. Sufficient.
(2) x is positive.
Let's take examples.
0*999, 1*999, 2*999 - sum is positive, sum is odd
1*999, 2*999, 3*999 - sum is positive, sum is even
Not sufficient.
