I send my blessing here to you. I will take mine in Mid-September. My score in the 1st attempt in February was 590. I only tried to get familiar with the examinations format.

May be I would also share my experience later in the same manner.

Hi Universehk,

Thank you :-D .

Let me know on your preparation.

It is always good to share and Motivate others.

Hi Gmad2015,

It's sounds like you're taking a very pro-active approach with this whole process, which is good. Most Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies, so the fact that you've only given yourself 2 months might be a problem.

Is there a particular reason why you set your Test Date for August 1st (e.g. a deadline)?
Do you have the flexibility to push back your Test Date?

When you mentioned that your score 'without prep' was a 500, does that mean you took a FULL-LENGTH CAT without any prep at all?
What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores when you scored 500?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Rich,

Good to see your post here.
2 Months is definitely a short time considering I am working full time.
I am targeting Ivey School Of Business, Canada, which has its Round 2 Deadline on 10th August . :( At max i can try and push the date to 9th August.

My Verbal score was 28 and Quant 32. Yes this was without prep ,though i was familiar with the test pattern/Structure.

Hi Gmad2015,

Given the short study time frame and the fact that you're working full time, have you considered the possibility of applying for Round 3?

While you can certainly proceed with your current plans and attempt to hit your GMAT score goal and apply for Round 2, the reality is that you'll need to do a LOT of work (not just on the GMAT, but on your application as well) in a short period of time. The reality is that you would have a much better shot at a 700+ score with a longer study schedule and the Round 3 deadline (which isn't until October) would give you that time.

Hi,
Its a good move to take 2 weeks off.
I think your mock scores look decent and 2 months of prep can take to you to a 700+.

I havnt had the time to update my progress uptil now.will do it over the weekend.
Are you doing self study?

Hi Rich,

In fact I met the adcoms from Ivey in Mumbai recently. The last date for international students is in Nov but i am worried about the amount of seats available by then since Ivey's class size is limited to 145 students with around 35 % international students. :(
Otherwise August end does look like a good time period and I could give the Gmat in the end of august since rest of the dates for all the other colleges is mostly in Sept.

Hi Gmad2015,

Given these 'parameters', you should proceed as you've planned. You should plan to take a FULL-LENGTH CAT (including the essay and IR sections) in about 2-3 weeks. Those score results will help to define how well your studying is going and possibly point out any 'weak spots' in your plan (so you can adjust the plan accordingly).

Hi engbong,

Your upcoming Test Day is less than 1 month away, so you don't have much time remaining. If this 530 is your highest CAT score so far, then you're still too far from your score goal to make that goal a realistic outcome on August 5th. Do you have the flexibility to push your Test Date back?

Also:
1) How long have you been studying?
2) What resources have you used during your studies?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Hi Rich,

I have started a year back but preparation was not serious enough. There were months when I did not study.

1) OG 13 and 12 for practice
2) MGMAT books for concept
3) I am mainly targeting full time PGPX programs in India - SP Jain and IIMs etc.
4) 660-680 can help me to get into these school as I have good profile.
5) This is the only mock I have given so far.

Right now I have taken partial break from work. Mainly I am focusing on weak areas and trying to solve particular type of questions that I get wrong frequently.
I will get more insight when I write my next mock.

Pls suggest if this is the right direction. Any suggestion is welcome. Thank you !

Hi engbong,

Since your last CAT was almost 3 weeks ago, it would be a good idea to take another FULL-LENGTH CAT sometime soon (perhaps this weekend). That new set of scores will give us a much better idea about how much you've improved and whether you have to make any big adjustments to your study plan or not. You should plan to post back here once you have those results.
