Congratulations and thanks for sharing the experience!
Would you mind sharing how and how long you studied for the first attempt and why you decided to take it so soon?

Thanks everyone!

HanoiGMATtutor I started studying last December by first reviewing the Manhattan prep guides (the fundamentals and strategies books). A friend of mine gave me ones that were a few versions old and I used them to refresh on some fundamentals I had forgotten since college... I started reviewing slowly as I had time to spare - maybe 2-3 hours on the weekend. My intent was to build a solid foundation and gradually layer on more intense studying.

After I finished those guides, I started working on practice problems from the OG. I didn't time myself at first; my goal was simply to familiarize myself with the GMAT style of problems. After I felt somewhat comfortable with the problems, I began timing myself and trying to complete a set of 10 problems, for example, at an average pace of 2 minutes per problem, etc...

About a month before my first GMAT attempt, I started doing a full practice exam each weekend. I wish I would have started the full practice exams sooner! After my first attempt, I realized I still had a lot of work to do on my timing and endurance. As I mention above, between my first and last exam, the real difference makers were my improvements in my timing and confidence level (on my third attempt, I was very relaxed and I truly believed that I was much more prepared than the previous times and that I was finally going to be successful).

In terms of why I took it so soon (I'm not entirely sure what you mean)... If you mean why did I take my first attempt in June: I anticipated having to take it multiple times, so I wanted to be able to take it 2-3 times and still have some time before I had to submit my R1 applications. If you mean why did I take it so soon in between attempts: I just wanted to keep the information fresh in my head and I knew if I let too much time in between attempts I would start to lose steam and probably wouldn't be able to improve my score.
