Hi everyone,
I just gave my GMAT exam in the Pune, India centre. The thing is, during my exam (both quant and verbal), my computer hung several times - the proctor restarted my computer at least 5 times in total. And almost every time, i lost anything between 30 seconds - 1:30 minutes on my exam. I didn't know at the time that the proctor can add minutes to your exam - and I was already running out of so much time I didn't want to sit and argue and hit a dead end with even more time lost.
I first took the Verbal Section, then Quant, and then IR+AWA. Even though i lost at least a good 3-5 minutes in the Verbal section, I didn't say anything and got on with my exam. In the Quant section when this happened for the 2nd time, I lost my cool and told the proctor I'd lost at least 3:30 minutes during the last hang up. The proctor told me he'd add minutes, and he actually did add minutes and I could complete my exam on time.
However, because of their computers hanging, I lost so much time in verbal that I had to guess an entire RC in order to complete my exam. Obviously, my score must have fallen off a cliff at that point.
In the end I got 690 (Q;47, V:38, IR:8). And I'm very disappointed because I don't think what happened was fair at all.
Is it worth it go call up GMAC and ask them for a retest? Do they even bother to listen? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
I'm so bummed.
