Technically speaking, what you experienced is definitely considered a testing irregularity: you didn't receive the same experience as other test-takers, and that undermines the entire point of standardized testing. In most cases like these, the GMAT will offer you a free retake, though I've noticed that they've become stingier about these situations in the last year or two.

At the very least, give them a call, and push them as hard as you can for a free retake.

Let us know what happens! And hey, that was a pretty encouraging result under the circumstances, so I'm hopeful that you'll kick some serious butt next time. :)

Hi abhimahna , pikolo2510 and GMATNinja !

Thanks for the reply! Just thought I'd post an update. I did ask GMAC for a free retake, but they said they would cancel my current test scores if they did indeed offer me a free retake. I thought about it, and just because 690 is not a terrible score, I decided to keep the score and not have it cancelled.

I'm still planning to retake my GMAT, but I'll be paying for it. :)

I was wondering if you guys could give me some more of ur expert advice!

For my first attempt, I used the GMATClub Tests and the Official GMAC Exams (all six of them) for my mock tests. Now my GMATClub tests are exhausted, and I'm confused which CATs to take to improve my score further. I'm hoping to improve my Quant to around 49, and my Verbal to 42-43. I'd like to gain a bit more clarity about how to approach Quant questions, and to improve my speed in Verbal.

Do you think it's worth it to resubscribe to the GMATClub CATs and take those tests again?
Which are the best CATs outside GMAC and GMATClub, especially for Verbal?

Any help would be appreciated :) Have a nice weekend !

Veritas prep CATs are really good for verbal. You can try giving a shot at them. There is one free CAT available in their website and you will have to pay for the next 6. Just check the free CAT and see whether it meets your expectations.
