You should definitelty report the problem to GMAC. A little disturbance can spoil the entire GMAT exam.

Does it help when you raise this issue with the official site? gianpierpiero lost valuable time and I am not sure if they could provide a solution since the exam is over. Does the official GMAC provide an option to re-take due to issues like this?

Hi gianpierpiero,

What you describe is certainly an unfortunate distraction, but there are two positive aspects to it. First, it happened during the IR section - AFTER you had already completed the Quant and Verbal sections (meaning that your performance in those sections were not impacted). Second, most Business Schools don't care much (if at all) about an Applicant's IR Score - so even if you score a bit below what you would normally score in IR, that likely will not impact your applications.

But how will you prove or explain it about proctor?
GMAC ideally should give you another chance IMO

Hi everyone, and thank you for your replies / support.
The score was eventually released this morning: 720 (Q49, V38, IR8). I am pretty comfortable with that (although not 100% happy, since in practice tests I got as high as 750) and I won't raise a complain for the interruption as it appeared to have no influence on IR at all. I am disappointed for the Verbal section, the one in which I felt stronger (I even got a 46 in practice tests).
I still have one question, if you can answer: on the IR, even with a 8 score, my percentile is 91st. In practice tests, when I got an 8, the percentile was 93rd. Why? Does timing or any other factor count in terms of percentile ranking?

Hi gianpierpiero,

First off, a 720/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. The IR8 is the best possible score for that section - and Business School Admissions Officers know that - so you don't have to worry about the exact percentile that's attached to it. Obviously, percentiles can change over time - and the pool of Scores that were used to calculate the percentiles for a practice CAT are NOT the same as the pool of scores that were used to calculate the percentiles for your Official GMAT - so that's why the percentiles are a little different.
