Hi,
This is my first post here. I have given Online GMAT on 6th Sep and got my score early morning of 10th Sep (IST).
The exam glitch:Check-in process was smooth. Proctor started my exam after waiting for 20-25 minutes but somehow in my Macbook Air the screen went black and a colorful loading icon was appearing. There was no Chat window and nothing was responding. I didn't know how long I was waiting on that screen as I had no clock in vicinity. I was too cautious to exit the exam by hard restart of the laptop. Finally I gave up and did a hard restart. Somehow no one from GMAC called me during this ordeal. I realized that I kept looking at the black screen for
around 1 hr and 15 mins! I restarted the exam and again waited for 15-20 minutes for the proctor. This time the exam loaded well. I was never contacted by the proctor during the total of 5 hours spent (waiting time + exam time).
My suggestion to future takers is to not waste time if exam doesn't load in the first attempt. We can exit/restart and start the exam with a new proctor even if it is beyond our time slot.
Coming to my score, I got a satisfactory 750 (Q50, V40). I was relieved that my score didn't get impacted much after that exhausting ordeal. To give a perspective, I purchased the official practice exam set and my scores were 730, 700 before any preparation and then 750, 770, 760, 760 after few days of preparation by using free resources and practice tests available on various websites. I found Jamboree's website very useful for a last minute refresher of Quant and Verbal.
Another advice for test takers is to take the scores on other websites like Manhattan/Veritas/Kaplan free practice tests with a pinch of salt as they are definitely more difficult than the actual exam. Practice test set on official site is worth purchasing for this reason. For example I got scores as low as 620-680 in these other practice tests but my actual score was consistent with official practice scores.
All the best to fellow Fall 2021 applicants!
