After less than a year of self-study and practice with another test prep company, I took the GMAT in July 2020 and was disappointed with my Quant score of 43. Quant has been a foe to me through most of my life, but I intended to better it somehow, and thats' where e-Gmat came into the picture. Dhananjay(DJ) was assigned as my mentor. He pinpointed that my weak areas in Quant were Algebra, Number Properties and Advanced Topics. Since I was set to take my next attempt soon and needed more in-depth knowledge about these topics, I was advised to start with the e-GMAT trial Quant 2.0. Though initially, I wa a bit apprehensive given my fear of Quant, today, I feel it was a great decision.
I started with the course on Number properties & Algebra, and I found that the modules were a blessing in disguise, especially for those not particularly fond of this section. The granular processing of weak areas done by the diagnostic quiz at the start of each module gave me a chartered path for my preparation and helped me personalise where I needed to improve. This xPERT AI methodology helped me save time and move ahead with my practice as the focus was more on improvement rather than covering the whole universe. I enjoyed going through each module as there was so much to learn and in such a great way. The modules named" Process Skills" are a game-changer in this new Quant 2.0 as they made sure that the entire process of solving a Quant question is broken down into a step by step approach, which increases clarity. The files on complex topics such as Divisibility & Remainders & Inequalities & Absolute Values were so insightful that I could gather a new perspective on such questions and solve them faster. I was able to gather in-depth conceptual knowledge, which helped me increase my quant ability even more. The GMAT Skill files gave me insight into real-world GMAT questions, and I found that I could apply the process skills learnt previously along the way.
On my next attempt at the GMAT, I ended up scoring a Q47, and I felt that this was a significant improvement given that I had worked upon just three topics with the new Quant 2.0 course till the date of my exam.
Topics such as Advanced Topics & Statistics 2.0 came in much later, post my Q47 attempt. The modules, too, were instrumental in helping me understand critical areas to improve, like Permutations, Combinations & Probability, with the in-depth analysis given to each parameter. I always felt intimidated by questions involving three sets. Still, I was able to build a conceptual framework around the topic with the new modules making the questions seem so much simpler I was able to get information about timing errors, improvement strategies, and other details that one tends to overlook otherwise.
Finally, after much hard work and dedication, I took a retake and was able to move my score to Q48, which wouldn't have been possible without core conceptual building. To conclude, even though I intend to improve my score, going from a Q43 to a Q48 has been a significant achievement that would not have been possible without the expert guidance and support from team e-Gmat.
