amarahk – congratulations on scoring 720. This is an excellent score. I am sure it will take you places. I am also pumped that we were able to help you get to your target score. Improving from 590 is no mean feat. It requires constant focus and belief in one’s ability. Take the same dedication to your applications and you should do well.

Which schools are you planning to apply to?

Congrats! Could you please tell me about the materials and method that you followed for RC?
Hi,

Materials used were the e-GMAT passages and the OG passages. I have been reading books/novels since a young age so that came in handy. Summarizing the paragraphs in a passage and then summarizing the entire passage immediately before taking a look at the questions helped me a lot in actually comprehending the passage.

Dear Amar,

First of all, congratulations on your 720. I am super happy for you, and I hope you will increase it further post your next attempt. You have been one of my most diligent Last Mile students and I knew you would do it.

Your journey has 3 principal areas of focus:

Diligent approach towards the 3-Stages of Learning: Foundation, Practice, Test Readiness: Since your starting score was low for Verbal, you had to diligently follow the 3 stages of the learning process. You did the concepts well (80%+ scores in quizzes), did Cementing well, and fared well in Test Readiness.

Sufficient Revision and targeted practice on weak areas: You understood the areas you were weak in (For Example Assumption / Strengthen Weaken in CR) and revised them till you mastered them.

You were very diligent in the process of Strategic Review, and it translated into your score improvement.

Closing out on Test Readiness and Mocks: You completed learning and solving questions, but the last leg of your prep was to combine everything into taking Test Readiness quizzes simulating the test environment. Your good scores in the quizzes translated into good mock scores. In fact, your last mock was very close to your actual GMAT Score.

I have tried collating everything in a video to summarize your entire journey.

Watch Amar’s Account Walkthrough Video: https://success.e-gmat.com/Amar-Account-Walkthrough

In all, given your hectic work schedule, you kept moving forward to your GMAT target, and your hard work paid off. I am very sure a lot of students will get motivation from your story. A 130-point score improvement is a great motivation and example of hard work and persistence.

All the best for the next steps.

Regards,
Atreya

So basically your entire post is a marketing gimmick by @e-GMAT...

Dear frickthegmat,

Your comment seems interesting – let’s expand on it a bit. :)

Let’s assume for a moment, just a moment that this is a marketing gimmick, then would this post contain –

1) A congratulatory message to the student
2) The 3 principal areas of focus (Something the student did)
3) A decisive last step of learning (Something every student goes through)

The answer would be a simple NO. In fact, it was such a big marketing gimmick Atreya (the mentor) would not take the pain to outline his journey so any student could use it to understand the metrics you need to hit, to ensure success on the GMAT. Is this marketing or is this being customer-focused? I leave the decision to you.

Now let’s assume that this post is not a marketing gimmick. Would this post contain?

1) A congratulatory message to the student
2) The 3 principal areas of focus (Something the student did)
3) A decisive last step of learning (Something every student goes through)

The answer would be a resounding YES. In fact, it’s so opposite to a marketing gimmick that Atreya took the effort to go back to an old student’s account and identify the things he did right to ensure success. Is this marketing or is this being success centric? I leave the decision to you.

In either case, by highlighting the salient points of success we have been able to “market” our student’s hard work, diligence, and success. I hope you appreciate that and continue reading our posts. :blushing:

Kind Regards,
