My F1 VISA interview experience at New Delhi.
After standing in 3 zones of lines, finally reached the window after 2.5 hours. Before the interview, we were advised (for F1 applicants) to keep the passport with I-20 and SEVIS receipt.
Interviewer: Hello, Good Morning, Please pass your passport.
Me: Good morning. (Hands are over my passport + I/20 + SEVIS fee receipt.
Q) Have you faced any harm in your country?
A) No
Q) Do you have any fear in returning to your country?
A) No
Q) Why University of San Francisco?
A) I have prior experience in Entrepreneurship and to scale my venture, I was looking specifically at a Masters in Entrepreneurship. USF happens to be one of the few universities that offers an in-depth specialisation in Entrepreneurship. There’s a specific course that I’m interested in named “Life Sciences Innovation and Commercialisation” that is particularly relevant for me since my startup is in the life sciences domain.
Q) You already have an MBA. So why do you want another masters?
A) The MBA was right after my bachelors and gave me a general understanding of Business, however, for my startup I want to (interrupted)
Q) Whats your startup about?
A) Its an early-stage venture that focuses on skincare and haircare products customized for the Indian market via a patented technology.
Q) What do you currently do?
A) I have a full-time job
Q) Where?
A) In e-commerce industry, retailing on Amazon.
She comments “So you have no experience in Life Sciences and you work in E-commerce” and directly moves to the next question.
Q) How are you planning to fund this degree?
A) $xx,xxx from personal savings and funds, and another $xx,xxx from a sponsorship from my mother, and (interrupted)
Q) What does your mother do?
A) She is a homemaker but she has savings and investments from my family’s trust fund.
Q) How much is your family’s trust fund?
A) I can pull out a breakup of all our assets if you’d like.
She says: No you can just tell.
