p252 of 2019 OG, there is a sentence -- "We considered it imperative that the researcher suspend further testing." The explanation says the sentence uses subjunctive. I am wondering why we use subjunctive mood here? Is it because "consider" is used? Is it possible that the sentence is still correct not using subjunctive mood? is it correct also to say "We considered it imperative that the researcher suspends further testing." ? Or is it correct also to say ""We considered it imperative that the researcher suspended further testing." ?...

Thanks.

Hi yunbao

the adjective "imperative" followed by "that" is one of the key words that reflect the subjunctive mood.

list of keywords is noted here:https://gmatclub.com/forum/subjunctive-and-use-of-that-with-simple-verb-form-79606.html#p600516

Mahmoudfawzy83 is right. After an imperative that, we need the simplest form of the verb (irrespective of the subject).
