Q1. In the context of the passage the word sequencing refers to:

Second line of the paragraph mentions something about the "sequencing", "the Human Genome Project is rightly celebrated for sequencing it."
It refers to DNA.
Now, Read the line again. The Human Genome Project is rightly celebrated for sequencing DNA.
Now, The question is who is doing the sequencing?
The answer is The human Genome project.
Let's see the options.

A. the human genetic code
As per the passage, "variations in the human code account for all individual idiosyncrasies".
Now, read the sentence. variations in sequencing account for all individual idiosyncrasies
Does it make sense? No.
Reject the option.

B. the order in which things are repeated
Very tempting answer choice, one can clearly mark this one.
But this seems more generic statement.
But if we look at the question, we have to find the answer in context of the passage.

C. a chart or map of the genetic differences between people
The passage has used this line in context to 0.1 % of the DNA.
Which is not common, right?
Reject.

D. the work of the Human Genome Project
Yes, this is what we have identified in the beginning.

E. the order in which amino acids are arranged in DNA.
Is passage referring to amino acids anywhere?
Answer is No.

In q 3
I think an inference is a statement which is true under all conditions. Further, it can be a statement explicitly stated in the passage or not. Bottomline, whether it is a new statement or a repetition of some line in the passage, if it is true , then it must be an inference. so why B or C is incorrect?

Hello Sajjad,

Can I get a brief summary of the passage?
Summary of the passage

While 99.9 percent of human DNA is shared among individuals, the remaining 0.1 percent accounts for crucial variations, influencing individual differences, ethnic diversity, and susceptibility to diseases. The Human Genome Project's sequencing of this small percentage is celebrated for its potential to identify new treatments and diagnostic tests for common ailments like obesity, cancer, and heart disease. A global team of 200 scientists is tasked with mapping the inherited differences across diverse human populations to advance personalized medicine and drug development.

I have a question Sajjad1994

Quote:
Q3. It can be inferred that the work will:
A. accelerate the search for genes involved in common diseases
B. chart the inherited differences in the human genome
C. speed up the development of new treatments
D. map the DNA that is shared by every person
E. be made freely available on the internet

"It is thought that the mapping of the remaining 0.1 percent of human DNA will hasten the identification of new ways to treat common ailments such as obesity, cancer, and heart disease."

How is this sentence infers to "accelerate the search for genes involved in common diseases"

To me, "identification of ways" and "search for genes" are quite different.
