Hi guys, I also got an invite at around 4:00EST. I am an American, but based in mainland China.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. It is obviously rotten not to know yet, but everything I have found online seems to suggest that the majority of invites will go out at the very end.
I really don't think there is any reason to worry for those in the U.S. Wharton is clearly prioritizing reviewing the applications for international applicants so they can set up their hub interviews, which have much more limited time frames.
Even for those hoping to conduct hub interviews in the U.S. at least going to Philadelphia is a reasonable option if the dates conflict. It is less likely that is a viable (or fair) option for someone from India or China. That's not to say international applicants should worry either as there is still plenty of time before hub interviews start.
Thus far, the only domestic students are people applying to joint degrees (which I would assume have their own logistical complexities). Again, this is clearly based where you are located, not nationality, since an American living in China has the same travel restraints as a Chinese national. Round 1 admits and applicants from years past have indicated there is a flurry of activity for domestic students closer to the deadline. At this point I wouldn't be shocked if us in the U.S. don't hear anything until next week at the earliest. Regardless of who was admitted round 1, every U.S. school accepts more U.S. students than International students so there is no other explanation as to why 100% of all non-joint degree applicants have been outside the U.S. thus far.
