They probably just didn't see calc on your transcript, and require a certain level before attending. If you feel comfortable, I believe there is the opportunity to meet this requirement via credentials and/or test.

I had a minor in business in college and took two calculus classes, accounting, finance (including advanced finance classes), operations, marketing. Statistics is a part of the CFA curriculum. Still clueless about what I can do... Thanks for suggestion though!

Strange. Not sure what it could be then.

I would call and ask them about it. That kind of sounds like a mistake to be honest. Pretty sure the CFA curriculum is more difficult than most quantitative classes you would take in an MBA program. And your quant GMAT score is higher than mine and I didn't get that email...

Yes, I think I will call them. Just wondering whether any other non-quantitative-major folks got the same e-mail?

I am VERY non-quantitative and didn't get the e-mail. I did write on my application that I am taking an online Calculus and Finance Accounting course. BUT, I got a 46 on my quant, so I would think they would e-mail me before you. It is sounding like a mistake.

Did anyone else on this forum (from those who were invited to the interview) receive an e-mail today from the admissions office recommending strengthening one's quantitative preparation should he or she be admitted to Wharton, suggesting to take some quantitative courses, "a continuing education class in Calculus or Statistics, or retaking the GMAT/GRE, with a focus on the quantitative section"? The e-mail suggests to send the updates to a certain e-mail address.
Well, although I did major in a language in college, I have been working in Financial Services consluting and passed all 3 CFA exams since that time. And with the score 49 (85%) in the quantitative part on the GMAT, I do not really feel that I am on the weaker side there.... Or am I not right? Any suggestions out there as to how I can improve my "quantitative preparation"? Should I try to act before the decisions come out?

I didn't receive any such email!

I interviewed last week on campus. Had a fantastic time there. I recommend going on a thursday that way you can go to Pub (every thursday mba students get together at a building on campus and socialize over free beer and pizza!!) It's amazing! When you get there go straight to the admissions office, it's on the fourth floor (or third, i don't remember exactly) of the huntsman building, there you can sign up for classes, there are a bunch to choose from. There's also a campus tour and lunch with students. As for the interview it was pretty straight foward, some of the questions are posted on the wiki page. I really recommend taking advantage of the campus visit and talk with as many students as possible, you will also meet a lot of prospectives who are there visiting, when i was there there were probably around 50 prospectives... Good luck! (wrote this from my iPad so bear w me)

Congrats! Was this the first amongst the three? Good luck for the rest.

Can you share the questions asked?

My dear clubbers,

I just got done with my interview. Without getting into detail, I will tell you about an important lesson I have learnt. Do NOT focus a lot on previous interview reports bcoz they tend to limit your thought in terms of what the interview should be like. My interview didn't have the - "Tell me about yourself, Why MBA?, Why Wharton?" questions at all :O...

My advice - Read your applications and think through ur life experiences... Good luck everyone!

P.S. My interview wasn't bad but I wasn't able to do justice to it. Hoping for the best!

Thanks for the tip off Ironhide!! That is good to know, and I think that's how a real interview should be like. (Kinda boring to have the same questions for everyone, don't y'all think?)

Xender - I don't think Ironhide meant only 3 behavorial questions were asked. Ironhide said past interview reports "tend to limit your thought", so I'm guessing there are some unexpected questions. I would just prepare like what I have done for other interviews, job or school.

Good luck everyone!

Well it ended in 25 min. We did talk about my professional goal. And then my questions about Wharton.

Honestly, you should be glad if you don't talk as much as I do :)

I agree with ironhide... I don't even remember the questions cause it felt so conversational. Were the answers i gave the best possible ones? May be not. But then in a behavioral interview there are no right/wrong answers.

My advice, know your story, be prepared for lot of followup questions, appear poised and relaxed, communicate clearly and CONCISELY.

Best of luck for December 20. Hope the 21st Mumbai celebrations are on.

Ironhide, Mumbai247 - thanks a lot guys. This really puts me at ease for tomorrow. I wasn't really looking forward to cookie cutter q&a session. I would much rather prefer a conversation where I can really talk about my dreams and aspirations, and who I am.

Kudos to you guys.

Felt similar with my interview. Let me say that it's very awkward to answer situational questions when the interviewer doesn't first ask any questions about you. You need to supply background information for each story which is annoying.

I got 3 questions, and then she asked me if I had questions for her. The 3 questions probably took 15-20 questions, but then we spent another 25 minutes or so with her answering questions (the answers were very long ;-)). I was relatively happy with my answers, but by the end of the interview I knew everything about her and Wharton and I felt like she knew nothing about me! Hopefully that means that she was enjoying the interview, esp since she went 15 minutes over, which seems to be unique considering the strict Wharton time limit.

Had my interview yesterday at Mumbai HUB in the penultimate spot of the evening. It was quite conversational and went on for around 35 odd minutes (good sign? dunno). Tiffany, the interviewer, largely led the interview from within my resume and entwined the behavioral questions with my profile. Didn't feel 'mechanical' at all as had been suggested many times in all the forums, etc. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone! Happy to help in case you folks have questions, etc.

P.S. Is there a proper plan for the 21st Dec party (regardless of the decision) or is it tentative? Lemme know!

Cheers, A

It seems like most people are getting questions from a pretty standard set (time you led a team and failed, a time you convinced someone, a time when you managed someone older, etc. see the clearadmit site), but then it also seems like a lot of people (especially at off campus interviews with adcom) are getting more unorthodox questions. For example, only people that interviewed off campus got the questions about a time you pushed for a project (according to the clearadmit site). Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on here? Did anyone see if the interviewers had a sheet in front of them with a certain number of questions and if they were broken into a certain number of categories? It almost seems like someone is trying to confuse us and keep us from preparing canned responses.
