All, the invitations went out after 5:00p EST last week, so don't let yourself get too anxious too early. When it happens, we'll know. This board doesn't know how to keep these things secret (thankfully)!

random question, perhaps someone may be able to shed some clarity...

My best friend's father is a professor at Wharton and he advised that you have to have a GMAT score over 700 to really be considered competitive for admission. While that's understandably the case at all top 10 schools, my reservation lies in the overall range. Being a woman in M&A, with material international experience, a full-time job while in undergrad, 3.6 GPA with a major in accounting/finance minor in econ. and 1st generation college, extremely poor background, supporting parents, and move from Midwest to east coast should speak to my overall capabilities, I would think. I believe Wharton has the toughest reputation. My score was a 670 and i have no desire to retake the test, i don't have the time nor the energy. My goal post-MBA is non-profit & social entrepreneurship. Finance has been great, but I need something more meaningful given my background. Thoughts? Are they as bad as their reputation suggests?

Thanks... getting slightly nervous.

Given the fact that Wharton say's their 80% range is 680-760 and there was someone who was admitted in R1 with a 650 (3.95GPA), I think your GMAT score is competitive.

Good luck!

I actually took a look at that and wrote a post about it. Wharton weights GMAT more heavily compared to GPA than a lot of the other top ten schools. I also looked at acceptance rate by GMAT and it did make a huge difference. I haven't posted the GMAT acceptance rate article yet but if I remember then I'll post it for you tonight.
