Hi Experts what is the best approach to attempt the BOLDFACE questions?

What are the terms used to describe boldfaced parts in GMAT?

Hi sriamlan ,

The best way to attack any boldface question is to understand the structure of the argument.

While reading any argument, you must have answers to the following questions:

1. What is the conclusion?
2. What is the premise the author is using to support the conclusion?
3. Is he using anything that is against the conclusion?
4. Is there any intermediate conclusion?
5. Are there any facts that the author has used to weaken or strengthen anything?

Once you have answers to these, handling boldface will become a very simple game.

I like the strategy posted by abhimahna. I would also like to add that when you read the answer choices, expect the wording to be abstract. You have to really pay attention to each word in the answer choice. Make sure the answer choice that you picked described the role of the bold faced precisely. If you are short on time or if you were only able to understand the role of one bold faced, then you can still eliminate some answer choices by reading the part of the answer choice that describe the bolded face that you understand.
