We need to find SD, mean = 20;

\(SD= \sqrt{∑ ∣x−μ∣ ^2/N}\)

as μ = 20, To find SD we need to know about the items in the set.

Stmt 1:
(1) The absolute value of the difference of each number in the set from the mean is equal

This statement simplifies to a set that has numbers (20+x,20-x) as they are equi distance and mean =20.
=> {11,29}, {11,11,29,29} or {18,22} etc.
The SD of all these expressions vary.
So stmt 1 alone can't help to find SD.

(2) The sum of the squares of the differences from the mean is greater than 100
Using this as well we cannot solve bcs there is no equality condition. Many possibilities can arise.
So stmt 2 alone can't help to find SD.

Hence E

SD depends on how elements are spread across w.r.t mean.
Combining (1) & (2) also doesn't give us this relation or how many elements are there and how are they spread out.
