Re: What is the surface area of a cube with a volume of 512 unit^3? [#permalink]
volume = 512 = 8^3

side = 8
so surface area = 6*8*8
= 384

A. 384
B. 320
C. 256
D. 152
E. 48

We let n = the side length of the cube, and thus:

Volume = n^3 = 512

n = 8

The area of one face is 8^2 = 64. Since there are 6 faces, the total surface area is 6 x 8^2 = 6 x 64 = 384.
