Time needed: 31s

Statement 1:
\(2x+1=0\)
We have an equation with one variable, which will give us only one solution --> Sufficient

Statement 2:
\((x+1)^2 = x^2\)
The two \(x^2\) will cancel out, leaving us with an equation with one variable. Again, there's no need for calculations since they would make us waste time. --> Sufficient

Answer: D

\(i.e. x = -1/2\)
SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: \((x + 1)^2 = x^2\)

i.e. \(x+1 = -x\)
i.e. \(i.e. x = -1/2\)
SUFFICIENT


Answer: Option D
