Clearly Statement 1 and 2 are not sufficient on their own.
Adding the two equations we can say that x must be zero.
Hence C

What is the value of x?
(1) x + y = 0
(2) x – y = 0
(1) x + y = 0
(2) x – y = 0
FROM STATEMENT - I ( INSUFFICIENT )
x = - y
FROM STATEMENT - II ( INSUFFICIENT )
x = y
FROM STATEMENT - I & II ( INSUFFICIENT )
2x = 0
So, x = 0
Hence, BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked, answer will be (C)
