What is the value of x?

(1) x + y = 0
(2) x – y = 0

from statement 1
x + y= 0 ==> x= -y
no definite value for x
hence insufficient

from statement 2
x - y = 0 ==> x = y
no definite value for x
hence insufficient

combining
we get x=0 by solving the equations
Hence C

Statement 1
x + y= 0 ==> x= -y
value for x can be any thing, example (1-1 =0 /0+0 =0) X can be 1 or 0 or anyting.
Hence S1 insufficient

Statement 2
x - y = 0 ==> x = y
no definite value for x
S2 is insufficient

combining Statement 1 and Statement 2
we get x=0
Hence C

What is the value of x?

(1) x + y = 0
(2) x – y = 0

FROM STATEMENT - I ( INSUFFICIENT )

x = - y

FROM STATEMENT - II ( INSUFFICIENT )

x = y

FROM STATEMENT - I & II ( INSUFFICIENT )

2x = 0

So, x = 0

Hence, BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked, answer will be (C)

Awesome explanation!
