Same as "C" but worse. Why have two different actions "to try" and "to compensate"

I pondered over A and E too much and ı went with A, but ı am unsure and E can very well be the answer too. So here is my reasoning; First of all "body's trying to compensate" is acceptable. It is possessive gerund and it is perfectly fine to have such uses. Also "body's attempt to compensate" seems fine too!
However from a meaning standpoint ı believe "trying" is slightly different;
"Attempt" means striving to achieve a goal and taking your chances (so it is more meaningful that an attempt is performed by a conscious creature or a human being)
"Trying" is just making an effort to do something so ı believe body is not really "attempting" but instead is trying to compensate by creating a new artery

My answer is (E). It took me 25 seconds.
(A) "trying to" is not entirely incorrect, but
(1) it sounds informal
(2) it is a gerund (i.e. a noun form of a verb) In (E), "attempt" is a proper noun. ("attempt" can also be a verb.) When a proper noun exists, we prefer it to a gerund.
(B) The function of "that-clause" is suspect. It seems to be an appositive clause, but "trying" is not equivalent with "it..." clause.
(CD) Redundancy.
