Hey all,
Looking to apply to a (corporate focused) finance phd this fall of 2014 for next fall (2015).
I've taken the GMAT 3 times, 730, 720, and 730. My last GMAT I scored a perfect in the quant section but my verbal went down.
I graduated summa cum laude from an unranked undergrad university with (3.9/4.0)
and I've graduated from a top university with a master in finance with a quant focus with (3.5/4.0) ouch - and a c+ in mathematical finance.
In my defense I preferred corporate finance and never asked to be in the quant program.
I've also co-authored/published a paper that landed in a not top journal. The catch to this was that it was co-authored with a close relative, so I don't know whether that looks good or bad.
I'd like to do a finance PhD at a decent school, but I don't need to go to the top or anything of that sort.
My question is, where could I get in? And given my preference, would it be better to get a phd in strategic management?
