I will be joining the Cornell AMBA program, Which role - mgmt consult OR business development - offers a realistic chance to find employment in strategy? Without working prior experience in mgmt cons, how realistic is it to invest time on networking, and preparing for interviews for Consulting?
Is business development, which I assume involves strategy, a better option, in terms of job satisfaction, working hours, average pay, than consulting?
What are the best possible methods to get shortlisted in campus interviews? Hassling alumni's, and HR's ?

I am an international, engineering consultant without any experience in strategy. I have started my own company, and earlier worked in technology for 2 yrs.

Hi bluerobbin, ur list of next steps are just appropriate. ur experience is substantially less - that might hinder but not the only deciding factor. What is your ultimate career goal?u wnt to continue own business or get back to mainstream strategist profile?not clear on that....

I'm not to familiar with Johnson's AMBA recruiting process. For a fulltime program, you do not need prior experience to get into managment consulting. I don't think having prior experience will even give you an edge. So there's no worries there.
For business development, you need to research into what exactly the responsbility entails. It can range from sales to merger and acquisition.
