Hi Nez,

Can you post an example of a GMAT practice question that you've come across that uses the words 'breadth' and 'depth' and does NOT list any other words so that you can infer what breadth/depth means? If you could also list the source of the question, then that would be great too.

GMAT question writers have to give you the proper context to answer whatever question is asked, so if you do come across a rare prompt that uses either of those words, you have to think about the OTHER information that you're given - once you do, you'll be able to define what breadth/depth actually refers to in the context of the prompt.

I saw the question in veritasprep CAT.
It used breadth depth and length or even more.
if I log on I'll go to my review and excavate the question for you.
But I guess what they were will matter not... since the question was asking something about the area of a rectangular cube. it's all l*w*h.

I know length with and height but breadth and depth I know not. are they synonym for length and height respectively?

Nez bredth and depth can be synonymous with width and length respectively, or depth can be equivalent to height in a 3d object. It's all rather confusing.

Hi Nez,

Based on your post, there are a couple of note-worthy points here:

1) This is a Veritas question and NOT a GMAC question. GMAC writers tend to be remarkably specific with how they word questions.
2) From your general description, you didn't actually need to know the exact definition of the words to answer the question.

This is all meant to say that you probably don't need to concern yourself with the exact definition of these vocabulary words.
