I believe bb is correct. When you are offered a graduate assistantship, you work roughly 8-12 hours/week earning $700-$900 per month. This would definitely not cover your tuition for the entire second year. However, this assistantship can help you pay for your rent, utilities, and food during your second year. May be travel as well depending on how you utilize your money. Additionally, I see that the tuition at Wisconsin Madison isn't that high when compared to other schools in that range. So, you might want to consider Madison.

Coming to Madison V BU

Wisconsin Madison, reputation wise, commands a very high value when compared to the Boston University. So, chances of earning a FT job and an internship are much higher at Madison. In fact, Madison is a strong regional school and can get you easily placed in the mid west. The only pro that I see at BU is the STEM. However, with what is going around in the US, you cannot be sure if the STEM continues to be a 36 months time period. It might get reduced to 24 months or 15 months or remain same. So, pick the school on what your professional goals are (see each school's placement statistics for the last two years), and where would you like to work post MBA.

Wisconsin is the choice here, Boston is a great city but you will have tons of competition from all the top programs in the city for jobs. The STEM designation is the main value add for you on the BU side and of course the money but Wisconsin is the better brand

Thank you. I'm trying to ask Wisconsin if they can increase their merit package and I'll probably go there if they do.

They decided to increase the package to a guaranteed full tuition award for 2 years instead of one  Guess I'm heading to Madison this Fall.
