Hello, I need help with a Math problem:
A bus takes thirty minutes to travel from A to B and every two minutes a bus leaves from A. If a car leaves from A at the same time as the bus, and travels four times as fast as the buses to B how many buses will the car overtake on the way to B (not counting the one it leaves with)?
Thank you very much!
Hi,
the Q tells us that there is a bus at every two mins..
so if we divide the entire route in mins, there will be 15 buses enroute at the time car starts with the bus including this bus...
now car is 4 times faster so it will cover the distance in 7.5 mins...
so in this 7.5 mins time the buses which are at 2,4,and 6 mins from B would have reached B before car reaches..
so car overtakes 15-3=12 buses including the bus it starts with..
Hope it helped
