Quick question for all of you GMAT experts, when you see on the site that a school has an average work experience of 60 weeks for example, does that mean that the average person has 60 weeks experience at the date of application or will have that experience at the date they start their classes. Obviously, those dates can be up to 12 months apart so it's important to know which is meant.

By the time classes start. Most applications specify (eg list work experience through August/September of whatever year you're applying in)*

*Note: while the application may list a specific month to calculate work experience to, adcom will not hold you to actually working until then

As aerien mentioned - it's usually work experience at matriculation. This is relevant because the adcoms will take into consideration the amount (and quality) of your work experience and whether you would be able to get the internships/jobs in the role/industry you want.

Of course, if still unsure, you should confirm with the adcoms. They will be best placed to answer this for their particular school and program.

Always the date of starting the program. Look at it this way - how can you give the work ex. at the time of application as that is different for different applicants. So, jut assume that you will be working till the program starts and use that to calculate your work ex.

And aerien is right, the ad com will not hold you if you do not actually work till the last possible day before your program starts.
